What is your opinion? Is Music God's universal language? I do believe it is. And a second question is: What does qualifies a good Christian Band/Artist in the Eyes of the Lord?

The qualifier should be whether its for His praise and to give Him the glory, or whether its more about the performer than about God.

Some music is from God even though the artist is primarily secular. ie Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon

I am not sure if I would say that music is God's universal language. God usually speaks to people through the Bible, dreams, circumstances, and people. And I would definitely say that he can, and does, use music to talk to people. As for the second question, I don't think God qualifies bands. I think God is pleased with Christian artists that seek to glorify Him through their music.

Christian music in itself is debatable. There are some who call anything but hymns "not of God". All I know is that if a song glorifies the Lord and draws me nearer to Him I love the song because of it. I just want to be closer to God so whatever works, works. But personally I love Christian music it's just so relavent in our world today.

I don't know about it being God's language but I do believe that it really doesn't matter what the music is as long as its intent is to glorify Him!

I agree with lesoldham, Quart, heidipic and eyelusions, you can get a lot of meaning from secular music too. Music, I was taught, is either worship, middle ground / gray area or satanic. As for the original question, I believe not, the LORD can do anything through everything, be it music or television, HE can do anything. Universal language is "The Holy Spirit" Amen!

7) God's "Universal language is "The Holy Spirit""

Very well put. The Holy Spirit speaks to us via His holy word, through prayer, etc. Note that we cannot say there is any one universal or common method or medium. I feel its wrong to try and find any such "universal language", other than to say that expressions of worship and biblical charity have their own universal message. Music, if worship filled, is but one facet of the overall communing between God and His children.

Recall what path mankind took, and what God did as a result, when there was indeed a universal language. The One-World-Language came to an end at Babel, until God's Holy Spirit lifted the restriction on languages for the express purpose of the early church at Pentecost. However, that was for a temporary & divine purpose.

I've only one thought, READ the lyrics. THINK about what you are singing? Do understand them? Do you REALLY mean the words that are coming out of your mouth.
